Compost Nashville

About us

From two bins and a Toyota Camry to a carbon-negative fleet.

Compost Nashville started in 2014 with a simple idea: turn food waste into something useful for our local farms and gardens. A decade later, that's still the job.

Then and now

A small idea that grew.

It started in 2014 with two bins and a Toyota Camry, the "compost Camry," still spoken of with reverence around the warehouse.

Crema Coffee came on as our first commercial client in 2016. From there: more restaurants. Then events: weddings, festivals, corporate gatherings. Then thousands of homes.

Today, our fleet runs carbon-negative. We divert millions of pounds of food waste from landfills every year, and donate the finished compost to local farms, schools, and community gardens across Middle Tennessee.

Our mission

"To help Nashville and Franklin residents divert as much food waste from landfill as possible, and turn it into nutrient-rich soil for our community to grow more delicious food. We're here to grow food, not landfills."
